Monday 5 September: to Faro, Gotland
A prompt departure at 9.00am as we negotiate the commuter traffic on the outskirts of Stockholm towards Nynashamn for our ferry to Gotland. We are surprised how many people are on board so perhaps it isn’t as low season as we thought. A pleasant crossing on comfy seats this time with views out the front and opportunity for coffee and fish and chips for lunch! We arrive at 3pm and I drive north east for just under 2 hours. We cross on another ferry to Faro, a small island once home to Ingmar Bergman and arrive at our campsite on the beach. The reception is closed and we struggle to get in but eventually manage it and find it all surprisingly full. We decide to move from our allotted pitch as our view is blocked by a large German caravan! The beach is beautiful and peaceful and we’re beginning to feel at home again. A simple supper of bread and cheese as the sunsets.
