Wednesday 24 August

Thunder and lightning during the night and some rain. We have a pre breakfast dip down the steps at the end of the jetty.

After breakfast we head off on our bikes heading up the western side of Finland’s only fjord along gravel tracks to Fiskars; home of the orange handled scissors, axes and tools. We wander around the craft filled village. Lovely candle shop.

We eat our picnic in the middle of Fiskars and then return along the Eastern side of the fjord to visit the impressive castle at  Raseborg. More gravel tracks through woodland ( I can see why 70% of Finland is covered in trees ) with isolated wooden dwellings in grey, orange and blue along the way. A round trip of 42 miles.
